Pat as the seminary trained Priest ( STP) is on one side of the chancel with a kid and her computer. The Total Ministry Team (TMT) is seated in the pews and they each come forward as called they carry out their various ministries.
Zippy is seated at ta able on the other side of the chancel with a sign saying Team Communication Coordinator and a telephone..
Pat tells "son" she is going to write a sermon and doesn't want to be disturbed unless there is a "major crisis.".
STP - Mom - Mrs. Jackson is on the phone. Danny's dog just died and she wonders is you will please come talk to
him and tell him that the dog is going to heaven. (Pat sighs and takes phone.)
TMT - Zippy calls on Doris who is wearing sign saying LAY- Pastoral Care steps up with stuffed animal and after
prayer and consultation heads off to talk with Danny..
STP - Mom - Mabel is on the phone. She's at the hospital - her husband is having emergency surgery again. She
says she needs you to bring communion. (Pat closes computer and leaves.)
TMT - Zippy calls on Johanna who steps up wearing sign saying Deacon - Preacher gets the reserved sacrament and asks
Randy wearing sign saying Priest -Pastoral Care to join her and they head for the hospital..
STP - Mom Bishop Jelinek's dinner party is Thursday instead of Friday (Pat: "Oh, no! I forgot.") and you promised to come to
my soccer game on Thursday. (Pat: "I'll be at your game.")
TMT - Zippy calls on Rob who is wearing sign saying Priest -Sacramentalist and carrying formal clothes and asks
for directions to the Jelineks'..
STP -Mom, Hazel's granddaughter has to change her wedding date to next Saturday. (Pat: "Again?") She said she's sure you
understand. (Pat: "Oh, right. I understand.")
TMT - Zippy calls Cedar wearing sign saying Priest-Sacramentalist says she's been working with the couple and
asks if she's available on next Saturday. Cedar says unfortunately no and Zippy calls Randy who is now wearing a
sign saying Priest-Sacramentalist and is next on the rotation schedule who says it is fine for him..
STP- Mom, Harry is on the phone. The toilet at the church is plugged up and he says you better do something
about it before church tomorrow. (Pat: "Praise the Lord.")
TMT- All three of the Priest- Sacramentalist (Randy, Rob, and Cedar ) stand up and shout "Call the Jr. Warden"
and someone hands the Jr. Warden a plunger..
STP - Mom, Sally Kincaid's sister just called to say Sally's daughter just died. She's at the hospital and she needs
you to come there right away.
Pat says she will go immediately to hospital and asks Zippy to call and see if one of the counselors-in-training can meet her there
and asks Zippy to contact the Intercessor. (Pat leaves.).
STP - Mom, The Junior Warden just called and he said to tell you if the Senior Warden is going to be at the Vestry
meeting after church tomorrow he isn't coming. I guess they are not talking again. (Pat from outside: "I'm still at the hospital.")
TMT - Cedar walks up with a sign saying "Help Wanted! Parish Administrator" and explains one of the
responsibilities of this person would be Vestry meetings..
STP-MOM, Doreen just called and said that the Altar Guild wants to know if it would be OK to release a dozen
white doves (Pat: "Doves?") in the sanctuary for Pentecost. (Pat heads for the phone.)
TMT- Zippy calls up Lu wearing sign saying LAY-Liturgist and carrying a large net, bag of bird seed, and
scratching her head..
STP -Mom, Dad's on the phone. The truck's broken down and he needs you to come and get him. I have to go to
soccer practice so you need to take me first.
PAT - Heaves sigh and says - "Dear Lord, who is praying for me?"
TMT - Cynthia is the whole while at prayer for the team, seated on a stool wearing a chapel cap and a sign saying LAY-
Intercessor..
STP - Mom, Mrs. Larson called and her mother died suddenly this morning and their whole family is heading for
Chicago and can't be in church tomorrow. She asked if you would find replacements for them as they were
supposed to be acolyte, lector, and do the prayers of the people.
TMT - Pat sighs, tears her hair, and says "Hand me the phone and the directory. Guess I'll have to do this one, but only because
it's an emergency." Cedar comes forward with another "Help Wanted" sign saying "Parish Ministry Coordinator.".
STP - Mom, Alice Mason just called to say there is a regional ECW meeting in Litchfield, Monday. They want you
to do the Eucharist for them because you are the only woman Priest in the region. (Pat looks exasperated and takes the phone.)
TMT - Zippy calls on Cedar, wearing sign saying Priest-Sacramentalist who steps forward shaking her head and
saying, "I'm locally ordained for just our Spirit of the Heartland Churches.".
STP - Mom. There was a lady on the phone who said she's heard that folks didn't like the preacher last week.
TMT - Pat+ steps to the other side of the stage wearing sign saying "Priest-Team Mentor" and says, "Well, they don't
always like my sermons; this is when I'm glad I'm part of the team because next week Rob will be preaching. They usually like
him.".
STP - Mom, Somebody who said she just moved to town called and asked about the book study. (Pat: "Oh, that's good.") She has
some neighbors who might be interested if there was transportation. (Pat: "And I suppose I'm supposed to pick them up.")
TMT - Zippy waves her sign saying LAY-Christian Education and calls on Maren Kay who steps up with car keys
in hand and wearing a sign that says LAY-Outreach..
STP - Mom, My friends told me the Lutherans are doing that cool Alpha. We never do anything cool ! (Pat: "I don't have time for
'cool'.")
TMT - Harriette steps up wearing a sign saying LAY-Evangelism and passes out Alpha flyers (with Randy on
guitar and Doris singing " Come to the Waters" in the background.).
STP - Mom, Pete is on the phone. He says he's really sorry to disturb you but the wall fell down at the church. (Pat: "Not again!")
TMT - All confer and the sacramentalist leads them out to go to the church and celebrate Eucharist amidst the rubble. Team ministers bring congregation forward to the altar. The gathered people say the Nicene Creed..
