X. Closing Prayer
February 6, 1999
The meeting was called to order by the Rev. Pat Gillespie. The Rev Connie Claxton gave a small prayer. Eight members were in attendance: Pat Gillespie, Connie Claxton, Ron Lyschik (Our Saviour's), Priscilla Gray, Cedar Morrigan, Ann Beard (Good Samaritan), Peggie Jerabek (St. Stephen's for David Dodds), Linda Maloney (St. John's).
Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved. Motion to accept made by Ann Beard, seconded by Linda Maloney.
We then went into the agenda that was presented to us. Rules for voting power were discussed along with defining who composes a team. Motion was made by Ann Beard that all members of the churches that participate in the Spirit of the Heartland have a voice at council meetings, but just one vote by their elected liaison. Second by Ron Lyschik. Passed.
Motion made by the Rev Pat Gillespie, seconded by Ann Beard, that elected liaisons may send a designated representative to vote. Carried.
Moved to elect the Rev. Connie Claxton for a two(2)-year term to the council. Motion was carried. This motion was made by Ron Lyschik and seconded by Linda Maloney. The Rev. Pat Gillespie will chair the group for the first year. If she is unable to be present, the group will provide a leader.
Cedar Morrigan will be the treasurer appointed for a three(3)-year term which can be renewable. She will work through a Diocesan Custodial Account. The Rev. Priscilla Gray will apply for a grant to sustain this program. This must be applied for by 2/12/99. The grant application was reviewed.
We shall plan for an annual meeting to be held in July. Motion was made by Linda Maloney to have such a meeting on the Feast of Mary Magdalen, seconded by Ann Beard, carried.
Discussed that we extend open invitations to parishes to see what we can do before Easter to help ourselves and each other. Liaisons agreed to set up an initial community gifts-discernment meeting in their parishes.
Attached are the minutes from the last meeting and the grant application and the agenda from this past meeting.
Meeting ended with the Lord's Prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
Peggie Jerabek
