Lenten Book Study
Good Samaritan in Sauk Centre

Please join us every Wednesday evening in Lent at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall for a discussion and review of Archbishop Desmond Tutu's book, GOD HAS A DREAM. This weekly session is community wide and ecumenical. It is open to all persons regardless of denomination or church affiliation. One doesn't have to have a copy of the book for the first session on Wednesday, March 8, 2006.
ALL are welcome. Refreshments will be served and the hour closed with Compline, a form of evening prayer.

Please come and sing with friends and neighbors in this ecumenical event. All churches have been invited and all are welcome to attend regardless of church affiliation.
Bring an instrument and join in the Fun! Bring food for the Community Shelf!

You are welcome to a Thanksgiving Eve Service on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. This special service of Thanksgiving is open to persons of all denominations and to any persons wanting to thank God for the blessings of their lives. The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls have been invited to participate in this third annual celebration.
The Rev. Cedar Morrigan will be the celebrant and Beth Selinger will do a dramatic monologue for the sermon.
Refreshments will be served in the parish hall after the service.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A "EARLY" ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP SERVICE, ST. STEPHEN'S HAS ONE FOR YOU AT 2:00 P.M ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2005. You won't have to worry about night driving or dealing with any possible bad weather by driving at night. Ashes will be imposed and a Communion service will be held. The Rev. A workshop titled "Discipleship In A Troubled Church" will be given on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at the offices of Resource Training & Solutions, 4150 2nd Street South, 5th Floor, St. Cloud, Minnesota, at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and closing with lunch. RESOURCE is in the Bremer Bank Building across for SHOPKO West and K Mart.

The Rev. John Rettger, Chaplain of Integrity of the Twin Cities and honorary Canon of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, Minneapolis, will be the presenter. He will speak on the issues stemming from the consecration of The Rev. Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire and also talk about recent developments in the Anglican Communion and the Windsor Report.

The Rev. Fr. Randy Welsand will be the officiant assisted by The Rev. Deacon Roger Phillips.

Evangelism Grant and Via Media Training

We are pleased to announce that the Spirit of the Heartland Episcopal Churches recieved a $3500.00 evangelism grant from the Diocese. We also received a scholarship to attend Via Media training along with the materials and disks. We were one of only three churches in the Diocese to receive this grant out of 21+ applicants!!!

Congratulations, parishioners and Total Ministry Team! Our outreach and evangelism efforts will now be strengthened and enhanced through this grant. Thanks be to God!

Lenten Discussion Book Series

Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in Sauk Centre welcomes all community and area people to a Lenten Discussion Book Series every Wednesday in Lent beginning Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall.
The discussion will be facilitated by Fr. Rob Cavanna, one of the priests on the Spirit of the Heartland Total Ministry Team. The book under study will be Rick Warren's, THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE. Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of the book for themselves. There is no fee to participate and the sessions are open to all regardless of church denomination or affiliation.
Each session will close with Compline.

The 3rd Annual Community Sing A Long was recently held at St. Stephen's in Paynesville on December 28, 2003. Members of the Rejoice Choir of St. Louis Catholic Church performed to an enthuisastic gathering of townspeople from all denominations. Rejoice Choir members were Ian Pelter, Dr. Bob Gardner, Amy Syvertson and Colleen Pelton.
The Rev. Doris Dodds of Paynesville, one of the priests on the Spirit of the Heartland Total Ministry Team, lead the group in singing familiar hymns and Maurine Pederson of Paynesville was the organist. Refreshments followed the event in the parish hall.
